When we were house hunting I thought I knew EVERYTHING I could ever want in a home. Turn out, unless you have a lot of money, time, and patience, most dream homes come over time. This house had very few things we wanted. No garage, only 1.5 bathrooms, no granite counter tops or white subway tile backsplash. But what I did see in it was the potential. The potential for a DIY home. Our house was a flip, so a lot of the hard stuff had been done for us. The floors were the floors that we wanted, the paint was the color we would have chosen. The garage had been covered into a bonus room for extra living space, which for us was a plus. We have the room to add on a garage later, but we love our bonus/family room.
So that brings me to the kitchen. When I saw the kitchen, I knew it had potential. Are we done? No way! We still have to update one of the lights, replace the faucet and sink, add in a bar area, and possibly in a few years replace the cabinets and counter tops. This kitchen has a ton of potential and that is what I love about it. It needs work and for that I know I will always have something to do.
